Here you’ll find a list of things I love, both grocery and non-grocery products, which will hopefully help you find the things you’ll love! Of course, everything listed here is both cruelty-free and vegan. This list is ever-expanding so be sure to check back every now and then to see what’s new or, better yet, “Like” Compassion is the Secret Ingredient on Facebook where I will post updates & more!

  • Sweet Earth Benevolent Bacon This is by far my favorite “bacon” product out there -it is so flavorful and easy to cook! I love to use it in mac-n-“cheese” or for BLT’s, breakfast sandwiches, in salads, and so much more.
  • Hilary’s Spicy Veggie Breakfast Sausage Don’t let the name fool you, these yummy little “sausages” aren’t that spicy at all! They’re great all by themselves or in breakfast burritos, on a breakfast pizza, or wherever else you want to put them!
  • Gardein Breakfast Patties There are two things that I love these patties for and those two things are breakfast sandwiches (they’re the perfect size for an English muffin) and sausage gravy! For the sausage gravy, I pop a couple of these bad boys (cooked) into a pull chop device and pull the cord until the patties become little crumbles. I then toss those crumbles into my gravy and enjoy!
  • Gardein Beefless Ground Whenever I’m in need of some ground “hamburger” for a recipe, I always turn to this product right here! I put this stuff on pizzas, in “meat” sauce, in tacos, and on nachos, among other things.
  • Gardein Turk’y Cutlets Without fail, these golden brown beauties are on my table every Thanksgiving! (And at least a couple nights each month!) I prefer to shallow fry them but you can bake them too -either way they are absolutely delicious and they even come with their own gravy!
  • Gardein Teriyaki Chick’n Strips I like to use these both with and without the teriyaki sauce they come with. When it use it without, I find that the “chicken” can be used a multitude of ways and will take on any flavors you want it to take on! It also gets nice and crispy with just a little oil in the pan so if that’s what you’re looking for then this is the product for you!
  • Tofurky Slow Roasted Chick’n Lightly Seasoned When I need a “chicken” on the softer side to meld nicely in a dish, this is the one I choose. For dips, quesadillas, and hot sandwiches these lovely little strips really fit the bill! They also shred up quite nicely.
  • Whole Foods 365 Breaded Chickenless Nuggets Lifelong fan of chicken nuggets here and let me tell you, these things rival the “real” things but without all of the grossness and cruelty!
  • Lightlife Smart Dogs (“Hot Dogs”) I don’t always eat a “hot dog” but, when I do, I eat a Smart Dog! Smart Dog’s have got all of that classic “hot dog” taste (they’re freakin’ delicious) minus all of that classic “hot dog” nastiness! They can be grilled or cooked up however you want and are great in recipes too!

  • Daiya Cutting Board Collection Shreds Normal Daiya shreds are good too (and I use them often) but their “cutting board collection” shreds are seriously amazing! Great flavor, great texture -what’s not to love?!
  • Follow Your Heart Shredded Parmesan This little tub of deliciousness is my go to “Parmesan” because of it’s slightly tart flavor and nice, harder texture. It’s great as an accent “cheese” in mac-n-“cheese,” on top of pasta or pizza, or sprinkled into a salad!
  • Follow Your Heart Cream Cheese FYH doesn’t offer flavored “cream cheeses” yet but I’m sure they’re working on it! Until then, I’ll just dote on their classic “cream cheese” which is great for cooking with or just smearing on a bagel!
  • GO VEGGIE Cream Cheese I love any of GO VEGGIE’s “cream cheese” varieties -classic plain (great for cooking with), chive and garlic, or strawberry!
  • Daiya Cream Cheeze Daiya’s flavored varieties are my favorites of their “cream cheese” line -there’s strawberry, chive and onion, and garden vegetable! Each is great slathered on a hot toasty bagel!
  • Field Roast Chao Slices Creamy Original This is my favorite vegan slice “cheese” on the market today! In my opinion, it tastes somewhat like a white American-style “cheese” and provolone mixed together. It is super creamy, ever so slightly tart, and melts nicely when cooked on low, slow heat. I use it mostly in sandwiches, both hot and cold, but I’ve also used it in recipes and have cut it up for grown-up Lunchables.

  • Earth Balance Buttery Spread & Buttery Sticks Earth Balance offers up a whole range of fantastic vegan products including boxed mac-n-“cheese,” “cheese” crackers, and so much more, but let’s focus in on their “butter,” shall we? This stuff is great smeared on toast or pancakes but it is also excellent in cooking and baking. They have a spreadable kind (think margarine) that comes in 6 varieties and they also have sticks that come in 2 varieties -original and soy free!
  • Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream A great “sour cream” for cooking with, baking with, or for topping food with!
  • Follow Your Heart Sour Cream Another great vegan “sour cream” that you can use for cooking, baking, or just topping things off with!
  • SOYATOO Soy Whip (Whipped Topping) Fun fact: more of this goes directly into my mouth than on desserts! Yep, it’s that good!
  • Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy Pints (“Ice Cream”) Before going vegan I used to love a pint of B&J’s ice cream every now and then. Now, thanks to their vegan lineup, I can finally enjoy B&J’s again! My flavor of choice? P.B. & Cookies!
  • Kite Hill Artisan Almond Milk Yogurt & Greek-Style Yogurt Kite Hill’s “normal” yogurt is a European-style yogurt that is smooth and flavorful -definitely a favorite of mine! They also have a Greek-style yogurt that boasts a whopping 10 grams of protein! Now who said us vegans are protein deficient?!

  • Ener-G Egg Replacer This is by far and away my favorite egg replacer for baking… ever! Why? Because it’s reliable and easy to use! Plus you can buy it on Amazon!
  • Nasoya Tofu Really any brand of tofu works -this just happens to be my go-to because it is more readily available in my area! Tofu (firm or extra firm) makes a great egg substitute when you’re craving scrambled eggs or breakfast sami’s! To scramble it, press out the excess moisture then pop it into a pan with some vegetable stock or broth, a little oil, and a whole bunch of seasonings. As it cooks, break it up until you get a “scrambled” texture and add fixin’s if you wish! To make fried tofu “eggs” for breakfast sandwiches, follow the same method as with the scramble however don’t break it up, slice it up into 1/4 inch thick slices before you put it into the pan. No matter how you cook it just be sure to cook it for a while -it takes better the longer you cook it for!

  • Follow Your Heart Vegenaise (Mayo) Whether the original flavor or one of their numerous other flavors, like roasted garlic, pesto, or barbecue, you really can’t go wrong with Vegenaise -it’s so good!
  • Bragg Nutritional Yeast (AKA Nooch) If you’re not vegan (yet) then you probably don’t know what this stuff is so let me introduce you… (your name here) meet nooch, nooch meet (your name here)! This stuff can be added to anything and everything and gives a great “cheesy” flavor to whatever you add it to -it’s like magic and it is most definitely a pantry staple! (Can’t find it locally? You can get it on Amazon!)
  • Rescue Chocolate (Candy) I am obsessed, obsessed, obsessed with Rescue Chocolate’s Peanut Butter Pit Bull Bar! (Obsessed.) However, you really can’t go wrong with any of their amazing treats -not only are each super delicious but they also support animals too! The company donates 100% of their net profits to animal rescue organizations across the country!
  • Dandies Marshmallows These marshmallows are simply ah-freakin’-mazing and not only do they come in bigger and smaller sizes but they also come in seasonal varieties like peppermint, and pumpkin, too!

  • Skylar Body (Perfume) I’ve tried a lot of different cruelty-free and vegan perfumes but these perfumes are by far my favorites! They have 4 to choose from, a spicy one, a fruity one, a clean one, and a floral one, but, fair warning, be prepared to fall in love with all of them because that’s what happened to me! #ScentWardrobe
  • Love Myself Organics Deodorant I’m a girl who runs hot so I need a deodorant that doesn’t mess around but is still healthy and natural -this one fits the bill perfectly! My favorite scent of the 3 they offer is called “Forever” and it is lightly scented of lavender. You can find this stuff on Amazon as well as on their website!
  • Pacifica (Makeup, skincare, hair products, & more!) Pacifica’s products are all wonderful but here are some of my personal favorites: Stellar Gaze mascara, any of their eyeshadows, any of their nail polishes, Vanilla Hibiscus lip tint, Tuscan Blood Orange perfume, Salty Waves texturizing shampoo, Salty Waves texturizing conditioner, Salty Waves texture spray, Ginger Root hair volumizing spray, and the Best Day Ever style extending balm!
  • Maui Moisture Shampoos & Conditioners Maui Moisture has other products in their line but I am absolutely addicted to their shampoos and conditioners! The scents are divine plus they are made with no sulfates, parabens, or silicone!
  • Lush Cosmetics (Makeup, skincare, hair products, & more!) Not everything at Lush is vegan but they do have a pretty extensive lineup of vegan products -and they clearly label what is vegan so that you don’t have to be constantly scanning ingredients lists! Some of my favorite products at Lush are their Happy Happy Joy Joy conditioner (which makes your hair smell like a flower), their lip scrubs, their Eyes Right mascara, and their Rosy Cheeks fresh face mask!
  • Petit Vour (Beauty Box Subscription Service) Every month I get a little box in the mail from Petit Vour that brings an instant smile to my face! Inside I usually find 4-5 sample-size cruelty-free and vegan makeup or beauty products and sometimes there’s even a full-size product in their too! Can it get any better?! Actually, yes! When I then go to Petit Vour’s website to purchase full-size versions of the samples, or to review the samples I got, I earn points which can be redeemed for cash off an order! Seriously, check Petit Vour out -you won’t be disappointed!
  • 100% Pure (Makeup, skincare, hair products, & more!) This is such a great company and they put out some of the best natural products I’ve ever tried! What I find most interesting is that everything that has color in it has been dyed with fruits, vegetables, teas, and other plants -so smart and so cool!
  • BOX Naturals Cleansing Towelettes Ladies, let’s be real here. We all have to deal with that time of the month and, when we do, we can sometimes be left feeling not so fresh. That’s when these cleansing towelettes come in oh so handy! Not only can you use these pH balanced, biodegradable, individually packaged towelettes around that time of the month but you can also use them in a multitude of other ways as well -I highly recommend them!
  • Alkmene Teebaumöl (Tea Tree Skincare & Personal Hygiene) Tea tree oil is so good for you and everything in this product line has tea tree oil in it! This stuff is great if you have sensitive or acne prone skin but honestly, even if I didn’t have such skin issues, I would still use this stuff because it smells amazing and leaves my skin feeling just as amazing! Just a little issue though, it’s a German brand so it’s kind of hard to find stateside but Amazon has some of their products (including my favorite, their facial wash) and you can find some of their other products elsewhere online. Find them, trust me, you won’t be sorry!
  • Seventh Generation Feminine Hygiene Products Seventh Generation makes everything from dishwasher detergent to paper towels (and they’re all great) but right now I want to talk about their line of feminine hygiene products. Their tampons, pads, and pantiliners are all organic, fragrance-free, and chlorine-free -best of all, they actually work! And you can find them at so many retailers both local to you and online so you never have to turn to “bad” feminine hygiene products again!
  • Preserve Products Shave 5 Razor System Razors aren’t generally tested on animals but I felt super weird about buying them from the major brands who do test their other products on animals. To remedy this, I went on the hunt for a razor from a 100% cruelty-free company and that’s when I found this gem of a product! These razors, which you can buy replacement blade cartridges for, are not only great but they’re environmentally friendly too and can even be found on Amazon!
